MacDaddy Bowling

Final stop of the day - MacDaddy's pizza and bowling! Be sure to ask Mrs. Owens who the air hockey champion was....

Smile Mr. Lemmons, the day's almost over!

Fort Mason

After a long, wet ferry ride followed by another long bus ride, we finally arrived at the fully-restored Fort Macon (not Bacon) http://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/foma/main.php and huddled together for an educational film on it's rich history:

Then the park ranger (will insert name later) stayed late special for our group so the students could see the fort itself! Here we are, ready to storm the fort:

Ferry Ride #2

Feed the Birds!

After eating their Subway box lunches, students decided to donate their left over potato chip crumbs to the birds of the island and were surprised at the SWARM....cries of "put up your hood...run" could be heard from all over the island!

Ocracoke Lighthouse

See that little tower way over there? It kind of looks like a lighthouse? Well, it is - Ocracoke Lighthouse.......unfortunately it's a little too wet and cold to brave the elements that far and no buses can drive there so a far shot will have to suffice!

Ferry Trip #1

On our way to Ocracoke......

Cape Hateras

Cold.....rainy.......but we braved the elements and trekked out to Hateras Lighthouse:

Site of the original lighthouse:

This picture was taken from the live Hateras Lighthouse web camera, http://www.nps.gov/caha/photosmultimedia/webcams.htm, by a friend back in Charlotte! Kind of blurry, but it's us!

Day 2 - Horse!

Mrs. Owens says goodbye to our horse mascot before leaving the hotel!

Jockey's Ridge

A student favorite every year is the Jockey's Ridge State Park.....

Super Scalf!

Roll on.....

Line jump!

WINGS

When at the beach, or course you have to go to Wings and buy tourist "stuff." After students rummaged through OBX t-shirts, kites and plastic footballs it was off to Jockey's Ridge!

Wright Brothers Memorial

This year, it was a quick History lesson followed by a trek up to the giant Memorial for the Wright Brothers. Luckily, no one was attacked by the prickly cacti that grow along the paths this year! Video coming....

McDonalds

Imagine 1 McDonalds restaurant plus about 160 very hungry and cooped up students......I don't know if a camera could have been smuggled in there it was so packed!  An HOUR later, everyone is fed and ready to get back on the road.  Cheaper by the Dozen 2 is our featured film for the rest of trip......

....and away we go!

Our adventures started at 5:30 AM this morning (zzzzzzzzz) as everyone loaded into the buses and rolled away from the school.  This is a live update from Bus #3 (the cool bus) as we enter Raleigh......say cheese!

Welcome aboard!

This blog has been created for those landlubbers that aren't able to join us on arrrrrrr adventures this year.  We will be attempting (because you just never know what will happen with pirates on the loose) to post videos / pics throughout the trip to this blog for your viewing pleasure.  Stayed tuned....
